After a
restaurant wins several magazine awards a diner is prone to expect great things
and this local Indian favorite fulfills that order by becoming the standard that
other Indian restaurants are judged by. Starting out seven years ago, the
Haidian branch is the original; Ganges has now blossomed to three locations with
Chaoyang and Lido on the list. Ganges offers very traditional, reasonably
priced, excellently prepared food in a relaxing environment. From its humble
beginnings the owner has paid particular attention to the clientele by listening
to homesick patrons and Western food fans who are looking for more than a plate
of yellow curry with a side of rice. I have been a fan of this restaurant for
close to year and was anxious to see what the “expanded” menu had in store. I
was not disappointed.
一家餐馆在多次赢得媒体奖项后,食客会期待更多。Ganges在印度餐馆评比中成为佼佼者。七年前在海淀成立第一家店后,它在北京已拥有三家分店,包括朝阳和丽都的二家。Ganges价格公道,食物精美,环境轻松。从其简陋的首家店开始,老板就特别关注客户反应,倾听他们的思乡之情、理解西餐粉丝的更多需求。我作这家餐馆的拥趸快一年了,急着想看到它的菜单有哪些“扩张”。我没有失望。
Originally focusing on northern cuisines, Ganges has expanded their offerings with a section dedicated to Mumbai “street food” or finger foods and lighter dishes from Chennai. Following the owners advice I sat down to dig into a wide selection of house specialties. The lamb raan, an extremely tender leg of lamb marinated in yogurt and spices then finished off in the tandoori oven, is a great main course for two. The super spicy chicken chili, a lightly breaded appetizer that had a great kick that was a good reason to order up a Tiger from the tap, I strongly recommended as well. Don’t worry about spicy here, all tastes are catered to and can even be made extra spicy by request. Following that is an amazing chicken bhuna, a curry of roasted onions with a sweet and smoky taste, perfect with a cooling and tangy raita. Even better are the generous portions, enough for that late night snack or lunch the next day.
一开始,Ganges只专注印度北方菜肴。现在它已增加了孟买街头小吃、点心以及Chennai的轻淡菜品。听从老板建议,我坐下来在众多店家招牌菜中挖掘。小羊肉,极其鲜嫩的羊腿在酸奶和辣椒中腌过,并经泥炉烘烤,是供两人享用的超棒主菜。作为开胃菜,裹了一层面包屑的超辣鸡,给你充分理由再点一扎虎牌啤酒。强烈推荐。不用担心这里的辣椒级别,所有口味均迎合顾客要求且可依要求做到病态辣、宇宙辣。接下来的是迷人的chicken bhuna,咖喱烤洋葱甜丝丝的还有一点烟熏味,是与cooling and tangy raita的绝妙组合。菜量很大,足够宵夜或午餐享用。
For the
vegetarians or those of us who are reminded to eat our veggies, Indian food is
the go-to food and here you have a lot to choose from. The batata wada, a crispy
fried mix of potatoes and chickpeas, were totally addicting. Now my new
favorite, a vegetable achari from Mumbai, is a mix of tangy pickles, paneer,
peppers and spices that is one of those simple home-style dishes that absolutely
must be tried. Order up some warm chapattis or naan (and a second plate of
batata wada, trust me) and you are set. Be sure to leave enough room for dessert
and order up the carrot pudding, my second new favorite. This warm and creamy
dish with aromatic spices is a real treat; I can’t think of a more perfect way
to eat my vegetables.
对素食者来说,印度菜值得一试,这里有太多选择。Batata wada,酥炸土豆、鹰嘴豆,使人上瘾。我的新宠,来自孟买的vegetable achari,溶合了口感强烈的腌肉、胡椒、辣椒,是简约家常菜之一,不可不试。再点一些薄煎饼或者印度naan饼(相信我,你会点第二盘batata wada的)。你就酒足饭饱啦。别忘了留点肚子给甜点,来一份胡萝卜布丁――我的第二新宠。这道温暖、奶香浓郁而辣的甜点,真正了不起!我想不到更好的方式吃蔬菜。
Indian food,
like its China counterpart has a deep and rich variance in styles and tastes. By
doing “their homework” the owners of Ganges have built a menu that caters to the
new converts and those looking to expand their palates. The Chaoyang location
also offers a buffet for those needing a quick curry fix or wanting to sample
Indian for the first time. All three locations offer the same high quality food
at reasonable prices in a warm, professional environment. All three also
deliver; something that makes life that much easier, thank you Ganges!
印度与中国虽为邻邦,其美食风格和口味却截然不同。通过做功课,Ganges 老板设计了一款新菜单,以满足寻求别样口味的顾客。朝阳分店同时为初次尝试印度菜、小试咖喱的顾客准备了自助餐。三家分店在品质、价格、和环境舒适方面,不分伯仲;也都提供外卖,更加方便顾客。谢谢Ganges!
